Garden Update 5/28

I was so proud of what we had accomplished just a week ago. Now, I'm afraid that we may not get much of anything this year. We have gotten so much rain that the soil couldn't keep up. When you walk out there you are ankle deep in mud. My husband, John tried to dig trenches. It looked like things were drying up and then it rained again. We are supposed to get more rain today.

So far, we have lost a few tomato plants, some zucchini and most of the beans. We will put down another row of bean this weekend and see what we can get out of that.

This is my first garden, so I really hope that it will be a success. I guess you live and learn. Next year I want to put some in containers, Like Stephanie's. That is so much more creative and decorative. I still plan on putting stuff int he ground. I just want to enhance it next year.

  1. We had a very rainy year last year, so I know what you are going through! Hopefully it will dry out and you can still plant. You may have to plant established ones instead of seedlings and you may have to plant late, but you can still have a garden! Thanks for participating in How Does Your Garden Grow!

  2. That looked like my garden just about 2 weeks ago. The rain FINALLY stopped and I had to replant a lot. But they're all coming up now and I'm not as discouraged. I hope you get a break soon!

  4. that happened to us last year as well. i thought for sure all my carrots seeds had washed away but they actually did quite well, ya just never know, and i have know idea how people survived a long time ago when they're gardens were destroyed. eek.

thanks for stopping by and to answer your question, dehydrated cane juice is kinda like the purest form of "sugar" you can get. it's not overly processed like the regular stuff. you can usually find it at a health food store. :)
